If you want one electric guitar for rehearsals, recording and a varied set list, the PRS SE Custom 24 Quilt is well worth a look. This 2026 Teal Black version combines the familiar Custom 24 controls with a quilted maple top veneer and an ebony fingerboard. The figuring gives the top plenty of visual detail, complemented by a matching quilted maple headstock veneer and black back.
Quilted maple detail, familiar PRS feel
Underneath the decorative veneer is a maple top over a mahogany body, shaped with a shallow violin carve. The set maple neck has PRS’s Wide Thin profile: a useful option if you prefer a relatively slim neck for moving between chord work and lead playing. A 25-inch scale, 10-inch fingerboard radius and 24 frets complete the layout, with bird inlays along the ebony board.
Versatile sounds with straightforward controls
Two 85/15 “S” humbuckers are selected with a three-way blade switch. Use their full humbucker sounds for driven rhythm and lead work, then pull up the tone control to access leaner single-coil-style textures for cleaner passages. A master volume and tone keep adjustments straightforward, and the PRS patented tremolo gives you room to add subtle movement or more pronounced vibrato.
Who would we suggest it for?
This is a sensible place to start if you like the Custom 24 format and want versatile sounds without several separate pickup switches to manage. The quilted veneer and ebony fingerboard are the main attractions of this version. If independently switching each pickup into single-coil mode matters more to you, the Custom 24-08 Quilt is the model to compare.
