Ortega OBN28MGO Stainless Steel Guitar Slide 28mm – Matte Gold

A closer look

The Ortega OBN28MGO is a 28mm guitar slide made from stainless steel, designed for players who want a straightforward way to add expressive glides, sustained notes and vocal-style phrasing to their playing. Stainless steel gives a bright, clear attack with strong note definition, making it a natural choice for electric guitar and players who want slide notes to cut through a band mix.

This version uses a shorter 28mm format with an internal diameter of 22mm / 0.87″. Slide fit is personal, so that measurement is worth checking against the finger you normally use before ordering. A shorter slide can leave more of the fingertip available for conventional fretting, while the 60mm version gives more coverage across the strings. The relatively hard surface also gives a direct feel against the strings, which suits blues, rock and country styles where articulation matters.

The matte gold finish gives this model its own look without changing the practical purpose: consistent contact with the strings and a smooth playing surface. Technique and setup make a major difference with any slide, so players new to the style may find slightly higher action and careful muting helpful when learning to keep notes clean.
